First thoughts on Lincoln, first look at my WIP

So… because it’s now a movie and Tim Burton was involved in the process, I’ve started reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I’m not too far in just yet so I can’t give too much of an opinion, but I can say it is interesting. The way the introduction was set up and then the story sort of bugged me at first, but the style is kind of nice (even if it’s not what I expected). However, my favorite part of this book isn’t even in the book. Yes you read that right. No I did not momentarily lose my mind. When I bought this book I was with my older brother, who is a working towards becoming a History Professor. He saw what I was buying, shook his head, and ranted a bit: “If I ever have a student turn in a paper claiming Lincoln was a vampire hunter, I’ll die”, “I can’t believe you’re reading that”, “Enjoying your Republican book?”, etc.

It was thoroughly entertaining.

My next bit of totally useless information pertains to my own writing. I’m working on a journal-type story myself and what better way to get feedback than to whore it on my blog? It’s still in the early stages, so it has no title. I don’t have too much of it done right now, but I do have an excerpt to share. Hopefully it’ll spark some interest.

After several meetings with the psychologist, I have been declared sane. A heartless, cruel, sadistic monster, but sane all the same. They’ve granted my request for this journal, which from this point on I will use to tell the beginning of my tale, and the end of one young woman’s.

Not a lot going for it yet, but there will be eventually. I hope.

Now back to my reading!
